NIKHIL FOR AKSHAY-DEEPIKA PAIR IN ‘MADE IN CHINA’

Akshay Kumar who has been an action hero and is known for his Khiladi image because of his training in martial arts for years will soon be noticed in a full action international project. Its director Nikhil Advani says that Akshay and his female co-star Deepika Padukone who has herself been an athlete, have been taking training in China’s Wushu style under Jackie Chan. Advani who has so far been known for his romantic movies has undertaken this new genre in a joint venture between Bollywood’s famous Sippy house and Warner Brothers.
Advani adds, “My writer Sridhar Raghavan and my Indian producer Rohan Sippy designed the film with Akshay in mind. It was either Akshay or no one else for the role.” When asked why he chose the Akshay-Deepika pair he says, “We needed a lead pair who could do the action scenes with the grace of dancers. Both Deepika and Akshay are phenomenal dancers and athletes.” Incidentally, the producers of ‘Made in China’, Ramesh and Rohan Sippy, have planned to shoot the movie from January 2008 for about five months in China. Interestingly, Akhshay and Deepika have agreed to stay in China for the movie’s shooting at Shanghai and Beijing until it is over .
