SRK REFUTES PUBLIC SMOKING CHARGE

According to Smashits :

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has refused at a recent meeting held at Panjin in Goa to accept the charges leveled against him for defying the Anti-Smoking Act during recent Twenty20 cricket match and at a recent media meet in New Delhi. He has said this in connection with the charges leveled against him by anti-smoking organization. This is to recall that the National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE), an NGO, has issued legal notice to Khan under The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 for allegedly smoking in public.

The anti-tobacco NGO has objected to the superstar’s alleged smoking in public during India-Australia Twenty20 cricket match and also at a media Summit. They had contended that he was setting a wrong example for younger generation while defying the Anti Smoking Act. A lawyer for Shah Rukh has, however, contended that though the star attended the match, he was at no point of time present in any air-conditioned enclosure. “He watched the Twenty20 match from an open private gallery which was reserved by the Cricket Club of India for persons to be admitted by invitations only.”
